Hudson meets Finn... our whirlwind east coast tour

This past week was both a happy and sad time in the Holmes household. Hudson's cousin Finn was finally here, but the week was also marked by the passing of Hudson's Great Grandmother Holmes.

Grandma will always have a special spot in the hearts of us Holmes men (and women), and we will never forget what it feels like to be held by those loving arms. We love and miss you Grandma!

In order to make sure that he made it up in time for services, Hudson asked if he was old enough to try flying like a big boy. Mommy and Daddy agreed that this was the best plan, sent Lola and Lucy off to daycamp, and crossed their fingers for a quiet flight.

Baby's pack really light

1st ones to board! Here we go!

Patrick was way too nervous during the first flight to take any pictures, so we will give you a visual. Close your eyes and picture Hudson sleeping like an angel. That was what we were lucky enough to get!

Now for the train transfer to the next flight!

We made it just in time for a quick public diaper change before boarding the plane to syracuse

Before we knew it, our angel was out like a light. Hudson fell asleep too (wink wink)

A quick drive in the snow, and we were up at the lake enjoying the winter wonderland.

"Daddy! Grammy is reading to me but she is making up all the words because she forgot to put on her glasses!"

2 Holmes men all dressed up in honor of Grandma Holmes

After a wonderful service, Hudson asked to take a quick stop to visit his other great grandmother on daddy's side of the family. Honey-Grandma was more than happy to meet us for a little bit!

After seeing everyone we could see in New York, we told Hudson that he was about to drive to D.C. to meet his new cousin. He couldn't wait!!!

And neither could our backseat passengers!

Until this happened...

several hours later, Hudson parked his seat next to his cousin's and settled in for some more quality family time.

all this excitement wiped out the little guy, and he took plenty of naps to make up for it.

one of the ways Hudson killed time while Finn was sleeping was by practicing his  skills of rolling over.

With another grandbaby in the room, Grammy was thrilled to death!

In order to kill some time until Grammy could hold him again, Hudson got caught up on all of his emails and text messages.

After day 1 of hanging with Finn, Hudson was the first to get up and demanded that the grandparents wake up to play!

I will not get off your chest until you wake up!

Meanwhile upstairs.......

Papa kept Hudson company until Finn would wake up

and before long, Finn came downstairs.... and fell asleep again.

and again.... Man, being a newborn is tough work!

Is he ready to play yet???

Finally, 2 babys in 1 spot. 2 grandbabys, 2 grandparents.... 3 incredibly happy people, and 1 happy dreamer

A little slice of heaven

all of that playing and waiting for Finn to wake up really took a toll on Hudson. We just HAD to take a nap.

okay, just a short nap... i'm ready again

Hudson announced to Patrick today, that he thinks that he will also become a dentist. Here he is giving Patrick his very first oral exam.

happy patient, happy baby dentist

And what would a trip with Grammy be without some sort of a costume!!!

After time with Caitlin, Chris, and Finn, Hudson packed his stuff up, and headed off to see his OTHER great grandparents. He was so excited to see so many family members in such a short span of time!

To wrap up this whirlwind tour, Hudson couldn't pass up an opportunity to go and see Mommy's parents. Grandparent time is our FAVORITE... especially when we get to pull long hair!

Mommys and grandmommys may be sweet, but at the end of the day, Hudson loves naps with his granddaddy.
