FREEDOM.... almost. 27 weeks, 49.5 lbs

Lola had her followup vet visit today to remove her sutures.... and for those who don't have the stomach for that kind of thing, I will refrain from posting pictures... Unfortunately, the vet wants her to stay calm and keep wearing her cone for 1 more week.... ugh

This has been a tough two weeks. Not much play time, no longs walks, and even when we took a road trip to Charleston, Lola only caught glimpses of the horses.... Lola did however get some valuable nap time with Ashley.

and of course, Lola was a true champ in the car, even taking a moment to pose for a quick family portrait...

We have felt pretty bad that she has been cooped up with her cone on this whole time, so Ashley and Patrick have been giving her bits of freedom, and letting her have some supervised time without the cone.
Needless to say she was raring to go, and couldn't wait to try on her new winter coat...

Due to the collar, Lola hasn't seen the sun in 2 weeks... Lola caught up on some much needed napping in the sun.

After everyone had spent 2 weeks giggling about her cone, she decided a tough-girl image was going to be necessary to show everyone who's boss. Lola showed her first signs of being a protective guard dog, and had her first attempt at scaring away intruders.... Victim #1, a young boy outside taking pictures.... (notice the hair standing up on her back!)

BACK FROM THE VET

We are back from the vet, and Lola is OFFICIALLY SPAYED! Poor Lola now has to spend the next 2 weeks wearing her 'Elizabethan collar', so that she cannot get at her incision site.

The collar is meant to keep Lola from licking the incision site, however I am pretty sure that the REAL reason that they want her to wear it is so that she is unable to see that they shaved her entire belly for the procedure... It is a look that Lola would never want anyone to see her sporting...

Lola has been a great patient, and has hardly complained to me. She said that the only thing she misses is being able to use her hands when she chews on her bones...

The Best part about her cone is that she can completely block out ANY competition when it comes to eating and drinking...

CAN ANYONE SPOT THE FOOD BOWL HERE?!?!?!?!

Although Lola will be living a fairly boring life these next couple of weeks, we'll do our best to fill up some space on here with some photos of the best patient in the world...

HELLO 6 MONTHS OLD! GOODBYE OVARIES :(

The coming of the new year marks several big events. Lola is now 6 months old weighing in at 47 lbs, and she is ready to be spayed.... Rather than tell you how guilty we feel and show a bunch of pictures of Lola making sad faces, we thought it'd be a good time to reflect on the past couple of weeks!

Here are a bunch of pictures and videos from over Christmas and New Years
