Harrison's 2nd Family Vacation (Charleston)

Why yes, we did take another road trip for another wedding.  This time,we packed up and headed down to Charleston.  We were sure some of the charm would have worn off and we wouldn't still be in love with our old home.  Oh how wrong we were!  It was even better than we remembered.  We found ourselves planning our next trip back to Wild Dunes before the end of the first day!
Charleston makes me happy!
Last time we were in Charleston, Hudson was 18 months old and was only beginning to appreciate the tidal pools.  This year, he fell in love with the beach.  He even put his binoculars to good use looking for Grammy and Papa's plane (and the occasional bird . . . )
First early morning walk on the beach.  We did a pretty good job of getting out on the beach by 8 or 9 in the morning, but this first morning we just had to get out ASAP!
Hudson flying his new kite from Uncle John and Christine.
Look Mommy, bubbles! (gross)
What a beautiful big boy enjoying the ocean.  Every trip we take, Hudson gets braver and closer to getting into the ocean.  This trip, he actually went in with Mommy until a wave over took them and Hudson got a "wave to the face"

Sometimes a boy just wants to lay in the sand.
No, you can't go swimming in that fountain . . .

Sleepy baby
Look at us!  Can you believe we got two boys, our chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys and just about a million other things out to the beach?  We were pretty proud of ourselves too!
Even Harrison was impressed, sort of.
Snack time
Mommy is absolutely overjoyed that she has both her boys together in one of her favorite places.

Could he get any cuter?

Ok, now this is just too much!  Hudson has adjusted to being a big brother so well.  He really seems to love everything about Harrison.  He loves to hug him and hold him and show him all of his toys.
"He kissed me!"

One of our favorite things to do in Charleston is eat.  This is our fabulous lunch from one of the new restaurants in town.  Probably the best sandwich Patrick and Ashley have ever had.
This cookie was literally the size of Hudson's head.

More pictures of our beach set up, see we really were proud of ourselves . . . until Patrick left to pick up Grammy and Papa and the wind knocked the umbrellas over while Mommy was nursing Harrison and Hudson played with strangers . . .
On the hunt for more minnows
Grammy and Papa finally got to town after a some drama with their flight.  Hudson was more than happy to show Papa where the minnows like to swim.
Hudson sandwich!
That looks like a slightly less ideal set up for Papa
Once everyone was up, it was time to play
Happy Grammy!
Harrison was so cute that Grammy almost didn't mind that she didn't get to see any dolphins this trip . . . almost.

Hudson was up for anything, including trying to catch . . . something.  Not sure if he wanted a butterfly, a firefly, a minnow, or whoever was holding the camera!

Very sleepy mommy and equally sleepy baby spend some pre-beach time napping together.

It was a good thing Mommy got that nap in, because when it was time for the beach, Hudson put her to good use.  She tripled up as a hole-digger, water fetcher, and jungle gym.

Meanwhile, Papa took over baby duty

I think this trip will be most remembered for Hudson's first foray into frozen beverages.  Here, he has commandeered Papa's virgin strawberry daiquiri

Papa didn't seem to mind since he was busy snuggling up to a sleepy Harrison.
Lunch at Wild Dunes.  We felt like we were on a cruise ship because they had a steel drum band playing, the breeze was blowing, and Hudson was loving his second Strawberry daquiri.
